^ I'm not a homophobe. That suggest that I'm have a fear of homos, and that the fear is irrational. I'd give a logical reason why I don't like them, but you don't want to hear it. You'd flame me like all get out.

(Edit: Okay, the post above was edited so this one is now kind of out of context...)

You also have to consider that the bible is a translated work, and that the translation of 'man' could actually be more referring to 'mankind' in general, in the context of not sleeping with another member of mankind whilst already in a relationship. Similarly, if you read the Sodom thing, it's not so much just the idea of homosexuality there, but there seemed to be something of an attempted rape scenario going on.
The harsh truth is, that the Bible means what whoever translated it WANTED to interpret the words as. Hell, the Church burnt multiple books of the Bible because they deemed them not Holy enough. You have to be careful in following the Bible, as it's not neccesarily following 'Gods Word' but following 'Gods Word Translated To A Particular Groups Views'.

On top of that, you have no right to judge who are and are not 'Real Christians'. If it is truely God who judges, then it is his job to judge, not mans. The Bible says 'God loves every man'. You have no right to judge, as you are not God. It's mans job to accept fellow man. Just because you're Christian doesn't mean you should give yourself God's duties of hatred and judgement. If you're gonna study the Bible, at least study the parts where it's saying to love fellow man, rather than twisting it to allow you to outlet your own feelings.

@Dregan: For more texts on homos, read Romans 1:26-27 in context.

As for the infallibility of scripture, read 2nd Peter 1:20-21 in context.

We've all heard this argument before.

Romans was written by Paul the Apostle, whom not only wrote the passage that's seemingly condemning homosexuality, but also wrote passages condemning women and writings encouraging slavery.

Does that mean you believe slavery and female oppression are justifiable?

The book of Peter itself was written by a prophet. There have been many people throughout many religions that have said the exact same thing.

Does that make them all right?

Of course if what Peter wrote is true at face value, then what Paul was said about slavery was God's will, was it not?

Look, believe what you want, but quit coming on here and being such a prick about it, okay? Lets all be happy and have fun times.

Google "the bible and slavery," bro.

EDIT: Just because you deleted your comment doesn't mean I didn't see it.

I found a few sites. I'll link one because the other was called "evil bible," and was naturally biased. Here's an unbiased account.

I'm also going to point out "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things." whilst a good scripture for if I was shining doubt on the original bible would work well, I'm talking about the translations and the editing performed by the current church in my argument. You could counter-argue that these changes and amendments were gods will - but there's so many versions of the Bible that that would be actively arguing that God is contradicting himself. I do not doubt the words of the prophets - I doubt the words of those who came after and translated and edited the Bible to their own purposes.

Jblack is right. This is going a bit too deep now.

Listen, in the end you're just using the bible as an excuse. You want to know the real reason you're anti-gay? Because it disgusts you. That's why. The idea of men being together, romantically and intimately, grosses you the hell out. That's why you're anti-gay. You can bark all day about the bible, but in the end you've made it more than apparent that the real reason homosexuality pushes you away is because you find it "icky."

Whether it's against the bible or not, I respect homosexuality, but I do not believe in it.

... Point is, it's a joke. We don't have to get too deep with it.
